Health Outcomes International was engaged by the Department of Health & Ageing to develop an evaluation framework for the National Suicide Prevention Strategy 2006 - 2011.  The framework informed and guided  the evaluation of the Strategy at a national level having regard to the impact of a wide range of national and community based projects funded under the Strategy.  The framework was based on a matrix approach which catered for an assessment of the overall effectiveness of the Strategy in reducing suicide and suicidal behavour among the general and target populations.  It also catered for an assessment of the achievement of the five identified objectives of the Strategy, the role of funded projects in contributing to those objectives and the reporting requirements of the COAG lapsing programs initiative.
