Evaluation of the Home Based Support Service (HBSS) Training Initiative

This project was to design and conduct an evaluation of the development and implementation of assessment and training to support Home Based Support Service (HBSS) Support Workers to attain the National Certificate in Community Support Services, Level 1 (National Certificate). This evaluation was part of the Training Initiative being lead by the Disability Services Directorate (DSD), Ministry of Health, in conjunction with the Community Support Services Industry Training Organisation (CSSITO). The overall purpose of the evaluation was to provide the project team with early information, at the trial stage, about what was working well in the development and implementation of training and assessment infrastructure/processes and what was not, for the first intake of support workers taking part in this initiative from March through to November 2006. This evaluation informed improvements in training and assessment for the wider roll-out of the National Certificate.
