Evaluation of NSW Health Mental Health-Aged Care Partnership Initiative

Evaluation of NSW Health Mental Health-Aged Care Partnership Initiative

Client: NSW Health

NSW Health engaged HOI in June 2007 to conduct an evaluation of two pilot partnership services being established by NSW Health, the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and two non-government residential aged care providers. The objective of the evaluation is aimed at providing a comprehensive assessment of and detailed information about the service models to enable NSW Health to make judgements about the impact of the mental health-aged care partnership initiative; ascertain ways of improving the service model and initiative; and determining whether NSW Health funding for the initiative is being used appropriately.  The findings of the evaluation are to be used to inform decisions about the expansion of the initiative across New South Wales and to improve the service model implemented at both pilot sites and elsewhere should the initiative be expanded. The evaluation addressed questions relating to both processes and outcomes and involved both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
