Specific Competence:
Vanessa has recently joined HOI as a Consultant. She has an Honours Degree in Social Anthropology and brings strong coordination, interviewing and analytical skills to project work. Vanessa has worked as a research, evaluation and monitoring manager in South Africa, in the area of child care and protection and community development. She has comprehensive experience in managing stakeholder groups, developing monitoring frameworks and systems as well as facilitation of community development workshops and project delivery.
Vanessa has also held client service and administrative roles in South Africa and the USA refining her competencies in multicultural settings. Volunteering in clinic settings and in crisis counselling has furthered her interpersonal skill set. Previous work experience has included working in the following sectors; Education, Tourism & Services, Corporate and NPOs.
Vanessa is proficient in Excel and other statistical software packages. She has undertaken performance reviews, evaluations of operational and strategic models and best practices, financial analysis and statistical analysis of a national impact assessment directly informing prominent international donors and government agencies.
Vanessa’s main project involvements since joining HOI are a principal role in the evaluations of five mental health initiatives for Counties Manukau District Health Board, assisting with data analysis on an evaluation of the Warm ‘n’ Well programme for Waitemata DHB, and participation in a review of DHB requirements for an oral health electronic records and data management system for the Ministry of Health.
