Specific Competence:

Sue is an experienced health services manager with a broad and comprehensive background in business management, strategy development and project management in the New Zealand health sector.

After initially beginning her career as a public health clinician Sue gained extensive experience in major strategic projects involved in establishing core operations of the ex Public Health Commission, the CRHA, the HFA and more recently assisting DHB establishment in several areas. This experience was coupled with leading or project managing a range of policy, purchasing or service development projects across primary, secondary and tertiary services.

As a management consultant with a clinical background, Sue’s broad and flexible skills were often sought to analyse and communicate the issues from a dual clinical and management perspective based on objective data and information from a range of disciplines and technical specialists. Inherent in this project work are the pivotal strategic human relationship, change management and communication activities necessary to ensure any policy change or service development/reconfiguration is successful for the benefit of all internal and external stakeholders. Her clients included the purchasing authorities, New Zealand government departments, several public and private service providers.

After moving to Auckland in 2002 Sue was initially employed as a senior manager with a public listed retirement village company and more recently as a senior manager with a large not for profit trust providing combined residential care/retirement village services. She has now been employed as a senior consultant with HOI with responsibility for a range of projects and the marketing/business development profile of the New Zealand office.
